Gade Avem

Remembering

I was in Haogen on Yom Hazikaron (a day for remembering and honoring people who died in wars). Like on Yom Hashoa, a siren sounds throughout the country for a set amount of time during which everyone stops what they're doing and reflects on loved ones who lost their lives.

I was taking a strole with safta when the siren started and was not at all prepared for it. I looked around but no one was insight and for a second I wondered if it was a regular siren (indicating to take cover). Safta quickly instructed me to stop moving and closed here eyes in thought. Later she told me about my father's cousin Yair who died in the 6 day war.
