bar- headed geese

What a great suprise this morning to see these two magnificent birds cruising around the lower tarn on the moors! I had never seen these birds before and rushed home to look them up in my Obsever Book of Birds. No mention of such splendid creatures! Further investigation revaled their name and then onto Google. These birds live in Central Asia and fly over the Himalayas to India to overwinter, making them the highest flying birds in the world!! I 'm not sure how many there are in Britain and if they are escaped captive birds or feral ones! Still it was a real early morning treat!!
