Beauty is all around us.

Raised Beds at the Railway Station.

There are signs of life in the raised beds, inspite of the very cold and changeable weather.
Patrick and Jo's radishes are coming along nicely with their heart shaped leaves.
They have also planted a border of nasturtiums, bright yellow and orange flowers that can be used in salads.
Paul helped me dig holes for our potatoes a few weeks ago and they have recently produced some healthy looking leaves. Pat advised that we bank them up with earth to protect them from the frost, due tonight.
I put in a row of shallots this morning and some Snowball turnip seeds.
Near the platform fence I sowed a packet of Ox Eye Daisies which are attractive to bees and butterflies.
It was great to read in the Accrington Observer today that The Prospects Foundation, an environmental community - centred charity , have secured £140.000 of NHS funding to continue their Cultivate project, which trains local people to grow their own fruit and vegetables and develop allotments.
This all contributes to community spirit and healhtier lifestyles while improving the environment.
