Good Reception

Out again in the forest this morning, and in a sunny spot I happenned upon a population of small (1cm long) moths feeding upon catkins and generally filling the air. Their brilliant metallic bronze/gold wings dazzled in the sun but what really grabbed my attention was the length of their antennae. I tried to photograph them in natural daylight but the antennae were so fine that they didn't show up at all. So I used my ring flash to bounce light off the antennae and this was what I got. I have never seen antennae like this before - they must provide this moth with excellent appreciation of its surroundings, but they certainly preclude it from flying fast.
This is the Longhorn Moth Adela cuprella (Denis & Schiffermuller, 1775)
