Thames Tug Swiftstone & H.M.S Ocean

Took a trip up to Greenwich today to have a look around the market and see H.M.S Ocean which has been deployed to the Thames to provide "Air Defence" cover for the Olympics.

Thought this shot was a good example of the contrast of size and age.

H.M.S Ocean
Deployed from the vessel, Royal Marines snipers from 539 Assault Squadron and 43 Commando will be on board the Navy Lynx helicopters, ready to shoot out the engines of suspicious vessels on the water while RAF Regiment snipers will do the same from the Army Lynx for light aircraft. Additional Info

Thames Tug Swiftstone
Launched in 1952, the Swiftstone served on the Thames as a Tug from 1952 till the early 1990s. It is now being preserved by a trust, and is currently moored at Greenwich near the Cutty Sark. Additional Info
