Sea of Irises

Well, not quite a sea, but certainly a bed of them. This bed stretches away from camera about six metres, and is all irises - contrasting somewhat with the baby potatoes in the bed above.

So, after yesterday's excitement of the election result, a good night's sleep was had by all (especially the ball-goers - I've back-blipped the past week for anyone who feels like catching up). So this morning I can't escape the feeling I had in 1997 when Labour got in, and worry that there may be the same sense of disappointment in due course that there was on that occasion and when Obama got in too. But perhaps Hollande is a different kind of politician and we are right to get our hopes up...

Glorious sunny day today - almost too hot to be outside and we all kept popping inside to cool down a bit. But I'm glad we've had at least one scorching day when my folks are here: they do love the sun. Much garden work planting the plants I bought with Mam last week, and weeding and creating a neat edge to a border... The work in this garden never ends. But the irises, despite the snake curled around their base, are always pleasing to look at. So when those of us who were lucky enough to have 'known' her are thinking of Molly/Tuscany, here's a straightforward, not mucked around with, flower blip.
