Duck!

A pair of swans passed very low over us on Bonnington Bridge this morning, so close we could hear their wings squeakingly beat as they soared overhead.

As they flew towards me, I was reminded of the Vintage Pair, a display team often seen at airshows in the Seventies comprised of a Gloster Meteor and De Havilland Vampire, whose grace and beauty in the air always thrilled me as a child when I saw them at RAF Leuchars.

And just as these two did today.
