Composition No 601.742: Diane Arbus and the Crop

The North East of Scotland has a hundreds of standing stones dating from thousands of years ago. Mainly Pictish they rival Stonehenge in both quality and number. If you are interested, RCAMS is a good starting point to understand and explore them.
This image however is of a concrete Trig Point on Old Meldrum Golf Course. There are several thousand of them. All are 4ft high and post 1935. If you still use a contour map, then you owe a debt to Brigadier Martin Hotine CMG CBE who directed the "Trigonometrical and Levelling Division of the Ordnance Survey". Thats Trigonometry to you and me!
My point? Arbus tought me never to be afraid of refusing to crop .....
