Two letters

A very simple word, two letters, 'n' and 'o'. Easy to pronounce really, not difficult at all. But when it comes to applying it and/or making the right choices I'm hopelessly unable to say or do it. So much easier to use the three letter word, 'yes'. Learnt it the hard way today that I should really use the 'n' and 'o' combination a bit more often, especially when it comes to doing things that are not really work (albeit still related...). I can do a lot of things but not all at once and at the same time. So 'no' it will be from now on more often.

I think what also happened today is that within all that last Wednesday's funeral and Thursday's long work day have finally caught up with me.

I blipped the House of Cards designed by Charles and Ray Eames. This is what it says on the Eames Gallery Website:
"The classic Eames toy, made of images of what the Eameses called "good stuff." A LOT of fun...

The Eames Office actually produced five different sets of the House of Cards: the small house of cards is the original, made in 1952. It actually had two decks, the Picture deck and the Pattern deck. It is the picture deck that we manufacture today in conjunction with MOMA. From that, a medium House of Cards was made that is a set of selections from the Pattern and Picture deck. That, too, is still available. ..The images are of what Eameses called "good stuff", chosen to celebrate "familiar and nostalgic objects from the animal, vegetable, and mineral kingdoms." The six slots on each card enable the player to interlock the cards so as to build structures of myriad shapes and sizes. There was also a Giant House of Cards (1953), a Computer House of Cards (1970) and a Newton House of Cards for the 1974 Nobel Laureates."

We had a version of the House of Cards as children and I'm trying to find it again because the cards were a bit thicker than these. I picked the cards I most liked as a child. The matchsticks and the pink Christmas Tree Bauble were definite favourites and you can just about make out the red, cut apple on its blue china dish. I love looking through those cards, they bring back memories.
