Why?

I was out this afternoon and stopped to get some photos of sheep. So I wandered up to the gate BUT all I could see was this barbed wire coiled round the top metal bar of the gate. This led to the question 'why'. Was it that the farmer didn't want me clambering over the gate. Maybe, but right next to this gate was a 'kissing gate' which gave access to the footpath that ran down the field. So why the barbed wire? and then it came to me - the farmer didn't want me leaning on the gate with my camera. Must remember to take at least a monopod with me next time!
