On Guard

One of the joys of staying in a hotel is having a cooked breakfast ready and waiting. The day is cold so it seems a good idea to focus on history. We have a vista to Stirling Castle. Although out hotel is in the Old Town and well up the hill to the castle it is still quite a slog up for the remaining part of the climb.

The Castle is quite spectacular, and Historic Scotland have done a great job on some of the restoration. Notably the Great HAll and the Royal apartments. I am spoilt for choice as regards a photo for today's blip. I settled on what I suspect is one of the less frequent photographs. This suit of armour was in one of the Royal apartments, presumably the King's apartment.

After a six hour visit to the Castle we walked down to the Old Town Jail. We had a fairly brief visit to the jail and were released unharmed before retiring to the hotel for a welcome glass of wine. The weather was becoming increasingly inclement so we decided to have dinner in the hotel.
