FIGGY's Sporadic Blips

Angels with ....

.... dirty faces scrubbed clean faces can be found in the old cemetery of Logie Kirk.

The Parish of Logie is one of the oldest in Scotland and sits at the foot of the Ochil Hills, north of the River Forth, at Stirling.

The parish, which is dominated by the Wallace Monument, was formed during the original division of Scotland into parishes by King David 1(1124-1153) and records show a church in the parish dedicated to St Serf circa 1210.

The first church at Logie was built in 1380 and, prior to the reformation in 1560, was Roman Catholic. Because of the building's ruinous state it was decided in 1790 to build a new church. A plot of land south of the Old Kirk was gifted by Sir Robert Abercromby and the new church recently celebrated its 200 years anniversary.

Approximately half a mile North of Logie Kirk are the ruins and churchyard of Logie Old Kirk.

Towering over the churchyard is Carlie Crag, a known meeting place for witches.
