Pheasants Eye

My favourite narcissus, Narcissus poeticus. Stunning flowers, late flowering (all the other daffs here are long gone,) fabulous scent.

They grew in my parents garden, seeming to like the London clay. Quite common and locally very plentiful in lower mountain regions of europe, I remember coming across a slope with thousands in the Spanish Pyrenees and kneeling in very wet ground to photograph them up close.

Pheasants Eye ..... next time you meet a pheasant take a look!
