Queue with a view

My journey to work is usually around 40 minutes, mainly on single carriageway roads but the final part is dualled. Had gone about a mile on this dual carriageway when we came to a VERY sudden standstill.

It was apparent that somewhere not far in front there had been an accident. Traffic was creeping past it but a queue quickly formed. Then the emergency vehicles began to arrive - paramedic, 3 fire engines, ambulance and several polic cars - so the road was closed.

There was nowhere to go. Nothing could be done. I just had to sit and wait. At least the view was quite pleasant and, unusually for recent days, it wasn't raining.

After 45 minutes the road was reopened and I eventually arrived at school an hour later than usual. Am not sure what the outcome of the accident was. They had clearly had difficulty extracting the driver of one car as the roof had been cut off. Let's hope it wasn't too serious.
