Fields of Gold

Headed off at the crack of dawn today. two football games on the menu for us. picked up older grandson and his pal and headed to Killearn for their team game. Promising first half 2-0 up but , as often happens , the other team won 3-2. He was very philosophical about it as he was Super Sub and didn't get on the pitch today ; also he was really looking forward to Dumbarton's play off against Arbroath.

A beautiful day for the run up to Doune , then on to Dunblane, up the A9 to Perth, then Dundee and across to Arbroath. A first visit to Gayfield park which is in a wonderful position by the sea.

A long time since we had been to a stadium which was not all seated, our grandson was fascinated by this and the fact that both sets of fans were able to change ends at half time, all very friendly and civilised as we passed each other on the way round. Great atmosphere with both sets of fans intent on enjoying the occasion. Songs rang round the ground , each very supportive of their team .

No goals scored today so we won through to the finals against Airdrie on aggregate , having won on Wednesday night.

These fields bursting with the gold of the oilseed rape reflected the glow in our hearts and the golden colours of the Sons strip so it just had to be todays blip.

Tomorrow back to heavy rain !
