Slow Worm- Anguis Fragilis

This slow worm was underneath a plant pot. I had to look in a reference book to make sure and learned that this is the most common way they are encounterd for they get heat by lying beneath sun warmed objects like flat stones and sheets of iron. They differ from snakes in having closeable eyelids. We also learned that it is easy to confuse them with the Greek Legless Skink, which of course we did. How we laughed at our ignorance.
