Through the tunnel

.. into the light.

The Greenwich Foot Tunnel opened in 1902 to provide a walkable route to work for South London residents who worked in the docks and shipyards on the Isle of Dogs.

It's not a big surprise that we ended up in Greenwich today.  The covered market is one of our favourite Christmassy places.  Hot spiced apple punch, mulled wine and a wander round the stalls (there's a lot of bad taxidermy this year, including nine stuffed chicks in a biscuit tin).  We also walked the foot tunnel which was also pretty inevitable - I keep dreaming of tunnels. And in a non-morbid way I'm hoping my Grandmother will have a peaceful and painfree journey to see my Grandfather at the end of hers.
