Angkor

And so to the temples upon a bicycle day one...and, in all fairness, angkor wat is fairly mindboggling to stumble upon in person...big...familiarity only shadows the place; quite insane on the megalomaniac scale. But angkor thom was moreso, the bayon with its broken sequences of smiling Buddha heads facing the four airts and crumbling against the climate of the ages...again a labyrinth of otherworldly figures dancing in the shadows of the smiling buddhas.
And then sunset at my back watching light changing upon the wat as, darkness descending, the thought of the five km bike ride in the dark, lightness against the cambodian traffic...more fun than you might expect :-)
