Under Huguenots Watchtower

Foul and brown you
Stand high on those
River hillside rocks
Amidst the barren
Wintertrees. Down
Here in town we walk
Close to the window
Lights in search for
Hold & shelter 'gainst
The pouring valley
Winds. You keep
Our admiration, Ah!
Looking up to your
Exposure. Lonesome
As a stony sign of
Gratitude, send by
Your Guardianship.

Here in the safety
Of the garden corner
We praise the distance
Of your watch, while
Here and now we
Touch our appletree
And smell the last
Of this years roses.
