Two Hats, One Knitter

Sounds like a recipe for disaster to me. I took a short workshop today to learn the dreaded Circular Cast On, a strange invention that uses double-pointed needles to start something from the middle and work outward to the edge--illustrated by this reddish beginning of a sweet lacy hat.The purple creation is a bulkier hat that goes a lot faster. Both use charts, which I think are charming. The trick for me is not to get the charts mixed up.
