A walk in the woods

Today I went for a walk in the grounds of Chirk Castle. For most of the walk it was sunny and was sheltered from the wind as there's a lot of woodland. We saw lots of different types of fungi as they leave fallen trees to rot. There were lots of birds around including a pair of treecreepers, a goldcrest, jays and a large flock of long tailed tits.

We saw a squirrel climb a tree then there was a crash as something fell out of the tree and landed on a low branch. It was a stoat! It quickly dropped from the tree and disappeared into the undergrowth - far too fast for me to get a shot of course but a treat to see.
