Saturday School

This is the first time I've seen youngsters with sand yachts on the beach at St Georges.  There wasn't enough wind for any real action today, but I'm relieved to know that the kids get proper tuition at an early age so they don't run you down when you're having a quiet stroll along the shore. Some of these yachts reach high speeds and you don't always hear them coming!

Actually the French are very good at these weekend activities and there's usually something going on in this nearby resort.  The sandy bay is over a kilometer wide, with a tree-lined promenade divided up for cyclists and pedestrians, as well as for show-offs with roller-blades. It's a great place for a walk when the countryside is too muddy and you can even combine it with a useful shop at the local market.

Today we spotted three red squirrels darting about in the pine trees behind where we'd parked.  I managed to get a picture of one but can't possibly use it for a Blip as I know there are certain squirrel-specialists operating out there...!
