High tech

This is part of the camshaft of the 10 cilinder 4-stroke main engine of the tugboat "Holland".
We had some water in the cilinder lubricating oilsystem so we had to investigate.
We saw it at a pattern on the piston and a few drops of water came out when we turned the cilinder lubricating system by hand.
So we had to remove a massive cover and removed the suspected nozzle and replaced some gaskets and copper rings. Now we have to wait until the cilinder cover is back into place and we can fill the coolingwatersystem again.
This camshaft can shift axially fot it's a direct reversible 4 stroke engine. So the timing of valves and fuelpumps is different for forward and astern; therefore the right cam has to be under the roll of valves etc.
A useful day it was!
