Golden Pond

These mallards were swimming on a small lagoon along the shoreline at Kaikoura.  The golden light lasted only a short while before the clouds closed in again.

It was great to have a break away just before Christmas, as we'll be home for the holiday.  I don't remember being in Kaikoura in the summer time previously.  We usually visit in winter, or early spring, to see the marine and bird life, and not during the main tourist season.
