Illinois bundle flower

Seed heads of Illinois bundle flower, Desmanthus illinoensis (how do you do italics on this thing?). This plant can grow up to 6 feet and has pretty flowers like little puff balls that are white to greenish. It is a common roadside and wasteland plant. The dried seed heads are fascinating, like little rattles.

Another dull day. Got the cake iced, always a bit of a struggle for me with royal icing. It'll get eaten anyway!
