Courting shags

Bleaker Island has a large shag colony and later in the afternoon, I went over to have a look at the antics there. There was a lot of activity, with birds constantly flying in with mouths full of dead tussac grass and moss. There was the inevitable squabbling and also courtship was much in evidence. Here a couple of birds are engaged in 'necking'.
