In the Bleak Midwinter

"In the bleak midwinter, frosty wind made moan,
Earth stood hard as iron, water like a stone;
Snow had fallen, snow on snow, snow on snow,
In the bleak midwinter, long ago"

So begins the famous and haunting carol written by Christina Rossetti .

She wrote it sometime in the 1860s - which was  ten years after Siccama made the wooden flute that the carol is played on in this photograph.

Carol, tune and flute are all going strong.

Happy Christmas!
