A Man of Many Hats

I met a strange man with so many hats.
Made from straw, felt and living room mats.

The collection and numbers he had were so immense.
He could only refer to wearing each one, in the past tense.

An assemblage of so many numbers for only one head,
He thought he could halve them, by selecting a women to wed.

But even with a wife there was nothing but trouble.
The problem not cut but increasingly double.

For Women can be picky and choosy by half.
For she would only wear those that matched her scarf!

There was only one remedy left for it all,
He packed them in boxes and pitched up a stall.

The subject in the background is one of those "living" statue characters. No doubt, somebody out there knows the collective noun for these street entertainers, because I surely don't. Anyway I had taken a few shots of him, when I noticed this couple of street traders on the other side of the road.
I had thought about cropping the image around the two people in the foreground and use them to draw into the background of the little girl and the "statue". In the end, I thought the hats just added a bit more!
