Little Red Bug

I happen to sit my purse down on a ledge and saw little red specks moving so I grabbed my camera to see if I could get a better idea of what it was. They look like some type of little red bug, but I've never seen anything like them before. You can see two in the foreground of this photo and several more in the background. This is about as clear as I could of these little thinks. They are like a speck and I was kind of surprised that I even noticed them. They were moving about pretty fast. There were ants moving around too and compared to these things, the ants looked like giants if that tells you anything.
