Fred & Andy

Snake

We manage to get out of bed at a reasonable hour this morning and have an early breakfast and head to the beach for the morning instead of the afternoon.  We come back about midday as its getting very hot.  Its actually much hotter today with no breeze.  We do a few chores ... drop the laundry in etc and then chill in the beach hut for a couple of hours.

Andy is sitting outside composing and spots this little snake on the beach hut opposite.  He's only about 1-2cms in diameter but quite long.  We think we'll continue using the mozzie net while we're here!  Bug wise its actually been fine considering we're in the middle of the jungle ... it is winter I guess.

Back to the beach in the afternoon and Andy does some more exercise.  Freddie really must join in as she's done nothing much recently but running in a bikini is not for her ... will bring the sports bra tomorrow!  Instead she makes a phone call to the family and chats to them all briefly.  Having dodgy ears anyway, prone to infections, they are beginning to get a bit blocked with all the swimming in the sea and wearing ear plugs in bed so either the phone is very quiet or she's deaf as it difficult to chat but nice to hear everyones voices nonetheless.  We'll have to Skype again when we have a good connection.  She's missing her friends and family at this time of year.

Tonight we meet Anton and Sara for dinner and then take them back to the Whiskey Bar.  Nim, the Thai girl who runs it, welcomes us and invites us to a party at another resort 20 mins away on the 28th.  The party is in honour of her sister who used to run the bar but died a while ago which is why Nia moved away from her husband and children to take over the business.  We think we'll go if we are still here.  We may move on to Koh Mak as Fred's friend, Julia will be there from the 27th to 31st December.  Although, after chatting to a few people, we think it may be hard to find accommodation when we get there so we'll have to think about it.  We meet another English lady, Jules, who has lived here for many years and the party is at her place.  Her son and friend are here too so we stay and chat for a while before heading to bed not too late.
