If it walks like a duck..........

The mallard is the most common duck in the UK and because of that many folk simply ignore them but take a moment to look. Isn't this little guy gorgeous? Males and females have the iridescent purple-blue with white edges speculum feathers and the male has that fantastic dark green head with the white collar.

Funnily enough I'm having duck for dinner this evening..............
