Reindeer Husbandry - Porotaloutta

This reindeer farm is located about 4 kilometers from the centre of Posio village. Had today a meeting quite close to this place, so desided to get a blip. The reindeer owners feed their reindeers with hay during the winter months.

In Finland anyone living within the area of Finnish reindeer husbandry who is a citizen of the European union has the right to own reindeers, in contrast to the situation in Norway and Sweden, where only Sámi are legally permitted to own reindeers. The total area of reindeer husbandry in Finland is approximately 36 % ot the surface of the country.
