Forth Estuary

Today's the day ....................... for times and tides

Another glorious day here in Edinburgh - perfect for a winter walk.

We went to Cramond where the River Almond flows out into the Firth of Forth and walked across to Cramond Island.  This small island is connected to the shore by a one-mile causeway which is covered at high tide.  So it is important to look at the tide tables and work out when it is safe to cross.

This is the view from the island looking south eastwards towards the city of Edinburgh.  If you look closely (I haven't worked out how to do this for you in the new site?!) you might be able to make out Arthur's Seat and Edinburgh Castle .....................
