Calshot Spit

Got up stupidly early to meet with my daughter at first light, she needed some essentials ahead of spending nearly all of January in the Carribean - I know, it's not fair is it.

Near to where her ship was moored is the Calshot Spit lightship, now in museum status she was originally built in 1914 by J Thornycroft of Southampton for Trinity House. Her hull is made of iron and she was built for service at Calshot Spit at the entrance to the Port of Southampton
