Funeral

Today is the day after Christmas Day, for some Boxing Day, for us a funeral day.  We buried my mother's brother, Willie. He  enjoyed a drink, did Willie, enjoyed a wee bet on the GG's to, and it was not unheard of for him to chase away unwanted visitors with his shotgun!  We loved him as kids, but, sadly, saw too little of him of late.  During a long, boring, stock sermon, my cousin, Kenny, bless his heart, stood up and irreverently said what we were all thinking, we were there to remember Willie, not to hear a load of boring sermonising.  Sadly, it made little difference.....  We buried him in the church yard outside, rain drilling sideways on the wind, and drove home rejoicing in the fact that Kenny had had a "wee dram" and felt empowered to voice Willie's voice, and our voice in the proceedings!
