Bringing the cows home.

This mornings job on the farm where we manage the livestock was to get the calving cows in off the hill. We had to drive out to find them first! Then gave them a shout and they follow the buggy in. At the hill park gate we carefully drew off the cows we wanted and left the young heifers and bullocks out on the hill. Impressive sight with over 40 highland cattle! Forgot my camera of course! The calving cows will now get fed silage for the rest of the winter.

This afternoons task is a clean out of the dog porch with scrubbing and washing of bedding and the carpet mats. The dogs are less than impressed with the towels I threw down for them until the bedding dries. I did point out they could be in their kennels instead! It usually doesn't need such an overhaul but with the stove not being on for 2weeks and no radiators in their porch it had got a bit damp and smelly!
