After Sunrise, Ranthambore Tiger Reserve

We were supposed to try to spot a tiger.  We even got up at 06.30 to be picked up.  It felt as though it was freezing.  All to no avail.  At one point we noticed groups of antelope and various species of deer nibbling quietly and taking their sweet time.  Our conclusion -- there can't be any real danger of a tiger nearby if the prey are behaving this way.  So we just settled on taking shots of the scenery.

A local travel rep suggested we book a second tour where the chance of spotting a tiger was supposed to be bigger.  We declined.  11.00-13.30 meant lunchtime, the sun up and bright, the predators sleepy.  We would then also be taken to the fort, which sounded tempting.  We still declined.

As it turned out, our driver -- now how could we not guess this! -- had it in mind to take us to the fort in the afternoon, if we had had the mind to go.  Of course, we jumped at the opportunity.  Can you believe this saved us 2500 rupees?

Tummy stable -- check.  Runny nose dried up -- check.  Purple bruise -- hubby likes to check that one but I don't give a hair what colour it is; I grew up with worse.  Humour intact -- check, check, and again, check.
