A Sign Returned

We had a very rude awakening at 6 a.m. today as our smoke alarms went off - it certainly does spur you into action. A quick check around the upstairs revealed nothing and then a rush downstairs - even the dogs were startled to see me appear and flick all the lights on.

Fortunately there was no fire and they soon stopped. However at that point the adrenaline was pumping so there was no way I was going back to sleep. Mrs madwill did try but she gave up when they went off again forty minutes later!

Not sure what it was, but I wondered if it was something to do with the cold - the one downstairs is next to the front door. As they are wired together when one goes off then the other does too!

Well after that I spent the morning trying to organise my keywords in Lightroom.

Made mushroom soup for lunch and at the same time prepared bolognese sauce for tea tonight.

Popped out to snap this sign which has been repaired after the original post rotted and snapped. The village signs were part of the Millennium project (which included these stone ones). The pictures on the two wooden ones depict scenes from the village and were painted by a local resident signwriter! It does appear to be leaning a bit - had to rotate the image slightly to try and even out the wonky tree and houses behind!
