Life in Newburgh on Ythan

A gap in our defences

A while back, I reported how, with Whitehall HQ being rather worried about the security of the border in the run-up to the Olympic games in London, we in Newburgh on Ythan had beefed up our defences.
We have dug the old WW2 pillbox out of the sand and made it ready for action and the seals of war have been full briefed and deployed on the beaches, ready to be unleashed at a moment's notice.
We thought that we could all sleep safely in our beds, but over the last few days a worrying gap, best seen through the telescope, has appeared in the seal front-line. We thought initially that this was due to a breakdown in discipline but now we gather that Teresa May (the UK Home Secretary) has, without consultation, re-deployed some of our seals to Heathrow Airport to help cope with the queues at immigration. Desperate times, desperate Home Secretary, desperate measures.
Things are so bad that we are off to Budapest for a few days. Back-blips will appear next week, assuming we are allowed back in!
