Nearly the highest

We left Buxton at 9am today and drove over the scenic road to Macclesfield, where we were drop our daughter who was staying with friends there over New Year. The route took us past the 'Cat & Fiddle' pub, which I had always believed to be the highest in Britain at 1689 ft.

Unfortunately while checking this out just now, I found that the highest is actually the 'Tan Hill Inn' in North Yorkshire, at 1732ft! Not to worry, I stopped to take a picture anyway!

We arrived back home to a cold house at about 6.30 this evening.
