If you can't beat them...

Goodbye Old Year hello New!

New Year was celebrated as we have done for the last fifteen plus years quietly at home.   For a number of years it was us and a couple who were our closest friends.  Since the unfortunate death of the lady it has just been the three of us.

We have a standard format start early in the day with a selection of carefully chosen DVDs projected to 7 or 8 feet.  We have a break for a good evening meal.  Then start again stopping just before midnight to celebrate the actual change of year.  Out on to the door step to watch the village fire works.  Then back in to continue the film.

All this of course is interspersed by a few drinks and nibbles.  New Year wouldn't be New Year with out a Malt.  Laphroaig (pronounced by one barman in Sheffield as Laprag!) is my favourite but the 12 year old Aberlour was very good as well.

Happy New Year to anyone who reads this.may it bring all you wish for.
