and a Happy New Year to you too...

A funny old start to the day and the year.

Up nice and early thanks to the dog barking his head off. A fox had decided to wander into the garden (in that lackadaisical way they have) and try to pinch some of the dog's kibble from the giant bag we keep just by the back door. This was just too exciting for the dog. By the time I got downstairs the fox was sauntering down the garden before hopping over a fence.

Next oddball item: an ex-neighbour & friend I guess decided that they were leaving facebook (or de-friending/blocking people) as part of a new year's resolution. Fair enough. Except they sent a note to both myself and +1/2 containing the gem I pray that one day you will be able to reflect on your past and seek redemption.

Neither of us have any idea what this is about. I mean, we're clearly not perfect but we're also not complete a*seholes. Or it could be that we misinterpreted the message they're just wishing that we will find god. Either way, a pretty damned mystifying start to the day.

I spent the rest of the day cooking to try and clear the fridge (steak pie, bolognese, leek & potato soup ), playing the guitar (first time in quite some time, getting rusty) and walking the dog.

The upside of clearing the fridge was that we ended up with pomegranate G&Ts. Tasty.

Music for today: a good old mixed bunch including Joni Mitchell, The Besnard Lakes, The Allman Brothers and a bunch of other stuff that I can't remember.

Last proper day of the holidays tomorrow. Bah!
