Opulence

Today we went for a drive down south, stopping along the way at Oamaru, and Seacliff, where we visited the remains of the Seacliff Lunatic Asylum (because, why not?). Then we went to Dunedin, and took some photos of the churches, and other interesting architecture that Dunedin has in abundance. This is the stairwell at Dunedin Railway Station. It was built in the early 1900's, and was designed by George Troup. This building design earned him the nickname 'Gingerbread George'.
It's a very ornate building, and attracts many visitors, both local & international.
