For the memories of ten drowned seamen

We celebrated the new year on Utö, the southermost inhabited island in Finland. During midnight we visited in a small chapel where we found a candelabra for memories for ten drowned seamen from the year 1939.

Utö inhabitants have experienced many tragic accidents over the years. The latest one was when Estonia went to bottom twenty years ago forty kilometers away  from the island.
