Golden Ticket

I received a Golden Ticket through the post (stamped and everything!!) from Elise. It reads:
You, yes you have a Golden Ticket of free time to do knitting on your own. Oh the thought of it oh how lovely. Date 2nd Jan 2015.
She's a lovely, wee, sweet, thoughtful girl and this made me smile :-) So today, whilst she was playing with her cousin and Amber had friends round...I took full advantage of my Golden Ticket and sat and knitted.
In the evening after bedtime I got it finished too -  a cowl for my Sister.
She went back home today, I've really enjoyed having her here.  It's been lovely to have company and I'll miss staying up late with a glass of wine, chatting and getting cross over the crossword with her.

I suppose today's Blip cannot pass without comment on the huge announcement and changes.  I admit I was utterly gobsmacked when I logged on, especially as I hadn't read the email forewarning us yet. I actually thought I had the wrong page at first. We've gone from good old grey to glaring white to white with insolent splashes of colour! I don't mind the colour (still hate the white) but most of all it just seems a bit sad.  However, these things should be expected and it is great for the Blip team that the business has grown and taken another step - I don't grudge them that.  It's just change and, dammit, I liked it how it was.  However, tantrums aside, blippers are what makes this space so great and we can continue to do so.  No need to throw the baby out with the bathwater etc.  I've been thinking of the dreaded bloody Facebook, which I loathe yet continue to use because I enjoy the communication it brings me with those I love, and let's face it - we're a long way off that type of commercialisation as it stands.
My main fear is privacy and data.  Polaroid ain't in it for nothing and I now feel less comfortable about posting data, map data, tags etc.  I'm too aware of it being harvested and mined. The internet makes one a tad cynical does it not.
Ok I'm done, oh - we went to see Paddington finally.  Seriously, I could have stayed in my seat and watched it all over again, it was that good. Glad they didn't ruin Paddington Bear for me, he is very treasured!

Ciao
