The President

His Excellency Michael D.Higgins, ninth President of Ireland accompanied by his wife Sabina and his military aide on the platform during the opening ceremony of the new Mountain Rescue Centre in the Wicklow National Park. Through one of our funding branches, the company I work for, The County Wicklow Partnership, were able to provide 300,000 Euro towards the building project, providing a state of the art centre for the team of about 30 volunteers who regularly put life and limb at risk rescuing people who run inti difficulties in the mountains.
It was a great pleasure to meet the President, to shake his hand and to find that he is, for all his academic prowess, very much a man of the people, friendly and not sparing of his time and interest in everybody.
I had a super day with freedom to go wherever I wanted to and to shoot at will but the feet are feeling the strain right now.
