Amazing Civil Engineering

We are having a major new road built linking the M6 to the port of Heysham and at last relieving chronic congestion in the centre of the city of Lancaster. It will also replace one of the most dangerous motorway junctions in the country - J34 on the M6.
We are following the construction in the Internet by watching films made by Morecambe Bay Movie Makers and looking at the Lancashire County Council site.
The photograph shows temporary concret pillars which a short time ago supported a temporary bridge over the A6 road. This was installed in one day with the bridge being lifted by a 500ton crane. It has now been removed. It allowed the contractor to move over a million cubic metres of rock and earth in 40 ton dump trucks all without disrupting the traffic on the A6 road. It was the first bridge of its kind in the U.K
