Another year, another cake challenge

Son One turned 11 on Monday (still can't quite believe it), and because we were away his party is tonight. He had asked for a full spherical piñata cake but time was not on my side and at the moment that's one challenge too far. As it was I had to do some complicated maths of a sort I haven't done in years to work out how big the hexagons and pentagons should be, and get my protractor out to measure the angles for the templates!

I did use one of these: (if that link has worked!) so it's full of sweets as well.

Pretty chuffed with how it's turned out, but I'm sure some of his mates won't appreciate the City blue pentagons!
