Polaroid - Past it's sell-by date?

I found an old Polaroid camera in the study plus a film cartridge. It has been been years since it has been used. I took a shot of the screen which had an old blipfoto logo. The camera worked fine but the film was clearly out of date and unable to fully process the image. Got me wondering if Polaroid itself is past it's sell-by date. Also wondered if the faded image also represented Blipfoto's future.
