Lifting creels

Another of the occasional series entitled "spied from the front window"! I was being a good little housewife and doing the ironing this morning when I heard the screeching of the gulls.

Duncan was lifting his creels and then re-baiting them before throwing them out again. The gulls, mostly greater black-backs, are great scavengers and always on the look out for a free meal. They are large and vicious and are notorious for taking chicks, especially eiders and shelduck, here in the bay.

It was a beautiful day today, sunshine and blue skies. As well as the ironing, I managed to get the front grass cut this morning, then sat in the sun and knitted for most of the afternoon! Made cheese and onion pie for tea, followed by rice pudding with lots of sultanas in it and a good grating of nutmeg. It's great being retired . . . just wish Himself was too!
